Mclean, Va. – January 31, 2011 – Avalon Global Solutions, Inc. McNamara Jr., has joined Avalon Global’s Advisory Board. Mr. McNamara’s experience in public and private service will be a great asset in the growth of Avalon Global.
Mr. McNamara’s impressive career in public and private service has spanned over four decades. Mr. McNamara is currently the Senior Vice President for Government Relations for the Career Education Corporation (CEC), where, since April 2008, he has been responsible for building and managing CEC’s newly-created Government Relations Department.  For the previous three and a half years, he was CEC’s Chief Compliance Officer and both built and managed CEC’s highly-regarded Compliance Department.
Prior to joining CEC, Mr. McNamara was a partner in the Washington office of the national law firm of Manatt, Phelps and Phillips, LLP. While at the firm, he also served as a Managing Director of ManattJones Global Strategies, LLC, the firm’s international business consultancy.
Mr. McNamara was appointed General Counsel for the CIA in November 1997 by President Clinton. In that capacity, Mr. McNamara served as the Agency’s chief legal officer, ensuring the CIA complied with U.S. and international law in providing foreign intelligence to the president, the National Security Council and other senior officials executing national security policy.
Prior to being appointed General Counsel to the CIA, Mr. McNamara served as Assistant General Counsel for Enforcement at the Department of the Treasury. Previous to that, he was Deputy Director of Enforcement at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which oversees institutional markets and regulates commodity professionals. Mr. McNamara also served as General Counsel of the Peace Corps, Legislative Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Assistant U.S. Attorney and Assistant Majority Counsel of the U.S. Senate Watergate Committee.  He also was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught for 12 years.
Mr. McNamara graduated in 1973 from Georgetown University Law Center, received an A.B. from John Carroll University in 1968 and a B.A. from Mount Carmel College in 1967.
